CAMP/

COB BUILDING/

COUNCIL

*** BIPOC Priority! ***

We will be camping out together in the gorgeous matilija canyon, and building a compost toilet outhouse with sculptural cob walls at Irasha's home amphitheater. We will design and build using natural materials from the land. You'll learn about improvised natural design/construction,  framing with wild wood, making cob and building with cob.

We will also share stories in council circles and have plenty of time for swimming, exploring, music, dance, meditation, good conversation, shared meals and whatever else we are inspired to co-create while we're together!

Please come prepared to be self sufficient with all the camping gear, food, and cooking supplies you'll need. We will have a simple outdoor kitchen set up for shared breakfast/lunch and access to Irasha's indoor kitchen for cooking shared dinners. Town is only 20 minutes away but we encourage you to settle into the experience of stillness and wilderness. Even just a few days in a row without getting in a car or opening your wallet is an incredible experience!

$180/ 3 days & nights

$60/ 1 day & night

Please come for all 3 days if possible!

Irasha Talifero

(Our host and Council Facilitator)

I've been a Council carrier and Naturalist most of my life. Living in the Ojai Valley since 1976...I love nature. Love sitting and listening to the voices of the animals, plants and waters we live near.

My work finds me in many Council circles loving the work I do around story telling. I really love working with people in groups while bonding around nature activities.

I love sharing with people of all ages and always hold plenty of spaces for children.

WHAT IS A WORKSHOP?

when i facilitate a workshop, i am offering insight into my relationship with natural building as a medium of artistic expression and self-reflection.

my work is deeply therapeutic for me. natural building is a physically grounding process which helps me to

regulate my nervous system,

self-reflect,

and connect

with my creative agency.

i want to share my practical knowledge and my approach to natural building as self-therapy.

a
workshop is a wonderful opportunity to...

come together as humans and connect within the context of curiosity and creativity...

learn practical skills to build a structure with natural and reclaimed materials...

learn to work with cob (clay, sand, and natural fiber), tree trunks and branches, stone, and found materials from the surrounding community...

empower yourself to create ecologically-integrated and functional art that defies conventions and inspires others to do the same...

discuss theory and design, address specific questions, and engage in real time building processes!
